Hello again reader! It's me, Ryan Dombrowski, back with another blog entry for your eye holes!
Today, I put Suburban Scavengers on Steam Greenlight! Now I'm one step closer to making my game developer dreams come true. For those who don't know what Steam Greenlight is, I'll start from the top.
Steam is an online retailer for video games. The biggest online retailer for games. The holy grail for developers looking to sell PC games. Steam offers a service known as Steam Greenlight that allows the community of gamers on Steam to vote for games to be allowed entry into the Steam store. After it receives X amount of positive votes, Valve (the company that owns "Steam") contacts you to move forward with the process of getting your game on their store. Pretty awesome! Now my game is in line for millions of people to vote on.
A very special thanks to my friends and family who have helped make this possible. I honestly wouldn't have been able to do it without your generosity.
If you'd like to see Suburban Scavengers on Steam, check out the Greenlight page. I'll be updating it with new content as I progress.
I've also come to announce that I will be adding even more content to my already extensive weekly content dump! To accompany the Doom Ninja Podcast audio episodes and live stream + video, I am going to record a commentary video of the game that I played that week. This week's will be an hour long of me farting around with Axiom Verge!
Some of you long time readers are probably thinking, "Ryan! Why are you making even more content when you're already doing do much each week? Give yourself a break!" Well, reader, I want to first thank you for being a long time reader. You help keep me motivated. :) Second, it will not take any additional time for me to do this. "How is that possible?" you may be thinking. Well, I've been recording gameplay these last few weeks to accommodate our podcast livestream. It didn't occur to me that I could pop an overlay onto it, talk into my webcam and make a separate piece of content out of it. Now, the current plan is to do just that. I will likely not continue any longer games beyond the first video, but you could at least get a taste of the game, audio and all, to decide if it may be something that you're interested in.
I don't expect this to be something that many people are really into, but it really doesn't take any extra time to do it so....I might as well!
I'm going to keep this brief, as I just kind of wanted to announce that little bit of information.
Until next time.
